30th Anniversary WVCF Permanent Art Collection Purchase Awardee - 2022

“The River Runs Through It” is one of ten selected works to be on permanent display at the Wabash Valley Community Foundation, Terre Haute Indiana

Description: 2’ x 3’ aerial view of a section of the Wabash River, made on a custom steel loom using a mix of vintage, hand dyed, synthetic and handspun fibers.

  • “For the 30th Anniversary Art Collection I have created a weaving that mimics a small portion of the Wabash River as seen from above. Fiber art is a unique medium that requires many different fibers to be woven and tied together to create a cohesive work of art. Much like our community is made up of many different people from many walks of life, we all find ourselves tied together because of where we live and the community we create together. All pieces are needed, even the ones with frayed edges, or the ones that seem too large or small to incorporate; in the same way that all members of our community are needed to make Terre Haute a great place to live and work. The Wabash Valley Community Foundation is at its core, an organization that engages and enriches the lives of the people in our community; and what better way to visually depict those themes than with a work of art made with those values in mind.”
